1953 Lithograph Woman Bird Cage Ship Sailing Portrait Wooldridge Laurence XGTC6 XEM6 church Vintage AdvertisingThis is an original 1953 monochrome in text lithograph of a woman (possibly Emily Wooldridge) letting a bird out of a cage on a ship. This image comes from a collection of prints based on the story of the wreck of The Maid of Athens. It was a British ship that caught fire and shipwrecked in 1870 on the Isla de los Estados (Staten Island) in Argentina. The story is about Emily Wooldridge's experience as a woman on a ship who was married to the Captain.
